Experience

Monique Dalrymple completed a BA in Psychology at UC/Te Whare Wananga o Waitaha in 1981. While living in Australia, Monique worked in community based and residential roles with a focus on women, youth, family harm, sexual violence and addiction. Monique also worked as a community development worker in Sydney suburbs of Redfern and Marrickville and was inspired by the positivity, hope, strength and resilience of the Australian communities, Aboriginal, and 1st generation Australians she had the privilege to work with. Monique trained and gained significant group work and community development experience in those roles which inspire her current role as an ACC lead provider.

Monique completed the Ashburn Hall psychotherapy seminars and her Masters in Educational Psychology after returning to Āotearoa/New Zealand and began working as a mental health counsellor. Ongoing professional development has been in the areas of family violence, trauma, motivational interviewing, neurodiversity and CBT. Monique uses a psychodynamic lens to assist her to understand and support her clients’ varied contexts. Monique describes herself as a person who believes in the power of conversation and a strong therapeutic alliance as key to supporting people who wish to understand, manage and heal from trauma.
